Maldives, Saudi Arabia sign 5-year judicial agreement

Maldives has signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia to promote judicial cooperation.
The MoU was signed between the Saudi Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Court of Maldives on the sidelines of the International Judicial Conference in the country. This is the first agreement of its kind between Maldives and the judiciary of an Arab Islamic country.
The agreement was signed by Chief Justice Abdul Ghani Mohamed, while Saudi Arabia was represented by Justice Minister Dr Waalid Al Samani.
The five-year agreement sets out several areas of cooperation, including the strengthening of legal and administrative procedures related to judicial systems, development of professional competence and skills of judges and judicial personnel, and the improvement of judicial procedures and systems.
The MoU also includes the exchange of information, experience and international best practices, exchange visits between experts and technical personnel, and the organisation of scientific and technical conferences, seminars, discussion meetings, training programmes and workshops.
