In a post on X, Ihsan said Yameen had held power for five years but had not taken steps to build public confidence in the police. Ihsan said that if such efforts had been made during Yameen’s administration, the institution would have earned wider trust.
Ihsan said he intends to ensure that, by the end of the current administration’s term, the police will become an institution trusted by the public.

He added that President Mohamed Muizzu is aware of the need to improve areas within the police service and is working with confidence in the institution.
