Prostitution ring uncovered in Hiyaa tower; 5 detained
A Maldivian man and four women from Uzbekistan were taken into custody.

Police have arrested a group involved in a prostitution operation in an apartment in a Hiyaa tower in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
According to police, the arrests were made on Saturday night following a tip-off that a Maldivian man and a foreign national were bringing foreign women to Maldives and engaging them in prostitution.
A Maldivian man and four women from Uzbekistan were taken into custody. Police also released the identities of the arrested individuals.
Those arrested are:

Police said the arrests were made during a search of an apartment in Tower 12 of the Hiyaa flats in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
According to police:

Solah and Zarima Gulamovena Dejuraeva are suspected of organising the operation

During the search, officers recovered more than USD 19,100 and more than MVR 18,000 in cash

Solah and Zarima have been remanded for 10 days, while the other three women have been remanded for five days
Police also confirmed that, on the same night, two individuals were arrested in GDh. Thinadhoo in a separate prostitution-related operation.
An investigation is ongoing.
