The Ministry of Finance on Monday announced the recruitment of a technical consultant for the transport master plan of the Rasmale project.
The Ministry of Finance is seeking a consultant to prepare the transport master plan and conduct the feasibility study for the project. Applications must be submitted before 2 pm on the 24th of this month.
According to the announcement, interested candidates must submit all requirements listed in the Terms of Reference (TOR). The TOR will be available on the ministry’s website from tomorrow.
The announcement noted the following points:

The purpose of the consultancy is to develop a transport master plan for Rasmale.

A key objective is to establish a safe and reliable transport system between the administrative island and Rasmale, as well as within the island.

Interested candidates must express interest with a quoted price and demonstrate the capacity to undertake the work.

The consultant will be selected under the quality and cost-based selection method in the State Finance Rules.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit proposals.
Dredging of the Fushidhiggaru Falhu lagoon began on 18 December 2023 at the start of the current administration as part of efforts to address housing issues in the Malé area.
During the inauguration of the project, President Mohamed Muizzu said the area would be developed two metres high along the edge and three metres high in the middle. He said the government aims to develop the area as a zero-carbon city.
The President also stated:

An airstrip will be established in the lagoon area near the island and linked to Rasmale by a bridge.

The development will include 65,000 housing units, including land flats.

The city will be promoted internationally as the Maldives Eco City.

A high-speed ferry system will be introduced, with ferries designed for wave and ocean-resistant operation.

Energy generation and transport services will follow environmentally friendly standards.
