China donates MVR 43 million in aid equipment after ministry fire

China on Thursday donated aid equipment to the Maldives following the fire on 12 December last year that disrupted operations at the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Environment.
A handover ceremony was held at the Ministry of Finance, where Finance Minister Moosa Zameer expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its assistance.
China has donated equipment valued at USD 2.8 million (MVR 43 million). The items include office equipment and furniture to replace those damaged or lost in the incident.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Zameer said the assistance reflects the close relationship between the Maldives and China. He also thanked China for its cooperation in strengthening the Maldives’ institutional capacity across various sectors.
