52 massage parlours closed in Malé

Fifty-two massage parlours have been closed in Malé over the past week, President Mohamed Muizzu said on Tuesday evening.
The President made the remarks while meeting residents of Galolhu, stating that complaints raised during community meetings are reviewed and followed up with action.
He said inspections of massage parlours were carried out following concerns raised by residents at earlier meetings. According to the President, 24 massage parlours were closed by authorities during enforcement operations, while a further 28 were closed by their operators.

The Ministry of Homeland Security has previously stated that individuals are brought into the Maldives on tourist visas and engaged in prostitution through massage parlours. The ministry has also disclosed that 111 massage parlours are operating in Malé.
Authorities have stated that foreign nationals arrested in such operations will be deported.
