EC launches nomination portal ahead of council elections
The local council elections are scheduled to be held on 4 April.
The Elections Commission (EC) on Tuesday launched an online portal for the submission of nomination forms for the upcoming local council elections.
The EC said the nomination window will open on the 17th of this month. However, the portal has been launched in advance to allow prospective candidates time to complete required information and upload supporting documents.
According to the EC, candidates will be required to log in to the main portal using their eFaas account.
If a candidate selects a political party affiliation, an endorsement request will be generated through the system. Political parties will be required to process endorsement requests via the Simedha portal.
The local council elections are scheduled to be held on 4 April.
The government has also announced plans to hold a referendum on whether presidential and parliamentary elections should be conducted on the same date.
