Pen clams with sharp edges have been observed in the Rasfannu beach area, raising safety concerns for swimmers and visitors.

Ali Musthafa, former principal of Ghiyaasuddin International School, has advised the public to exercise caution after noticing pen clams in the area. In a post shared on Facebook, Musthafa said the clams could cause injuries to feet if stepped on while swimming or walking in shallow water.

According to Musthafa, the pen clams were found buried in the seabed near the pavilion area of Rasfannu Beach, slightly above the sand level. He noted that the objects were submerged and not easily visible, increasing the risk of injury.

He also advised beachgoers to be cautious when walking barefoot in the area, as parts of Rasfannu are commonly accessed on foot from dry land.

Musthafa added that while pen clams are known for the edible meat inside the shell, care should be taken due to the sharp outer edges.
