Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Monday urged the public to take precautions following an increase in cases of fever and other illnesses.
In a statement, the hospital said the number of patients being admitted with asthma, diarrhoea and dengue fever has risen.
IGMH advised the public to follow basic preventive measures. These include wearing a mask when visiting public places and hospitals if experiencing flu-like symptoms.
The hospital also advised people to pay attention to elderly individuals, those with chronic illnesses, children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.
IGMH further urged the public to maintain hygiene by washing hands with soap and using hand sanitiser. It also advised removing mosquito breeding sites and taking steps to prevent mosquito bites.
The hospital said people should avoid visiting the hospital unless it is necessary.
Due to the increase in cases of fever and asthma, IGMH has opened a flu clinic. The clinic will operate daily from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
