Modi says Maldives and India will continue cooperation
President Muizzu sent separate letters to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi to mark the Republic Day.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the Maldives and India will continue to work together for the benefit of the people of both countries.
Modi made the remarks in response to a message posted by President Mohamed Muizzu on X, in which the President conveyed congratulations on India’s 77th Republic Day, celebrated on Monday.
Thanking the President for the message, Modi said he accepted the greetings and conveyed his best wishes on the occasion of the Republic Day.
“We will continue to work together for the benefit of the people of both countries. I wish all the people of the Maldives happy and prosperous days ahead,” Modi said in his message in Dhivehi.
President Muizzu sent separate letters to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi to mark the Republic Day.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, the President thanked India for its assistance and cooperation in the Maldives’ social and economic development.
He said the government would continue to work to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Indian High Commission in the Maldives held a ceremony at the Social Centre on Monday to mark India’s 77th Republic Day. The event was hosted by Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel.
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Mohamed Nasheed attended the ceremony as special guests.
