Contract awarded to repair Malé north and east seawall
The project is valued at 700 million Japanese yen, equivalent to approximately MVR 71 million.
A contract has been awarded for the repair and reconstruction of the northern and eastern seawall of Malé.
The project forms part of an agreement under the Japanese government’s Economic and Social Development Programme aimed at strengthening disaster resilience in Malé.
The first agreement for the Japanese-funded “Project for Disaster Resilience Enhancement in Malé Island – Construction Phase” was signed on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development.
The agreement was signed with Toyo Construction Co., Ltd.. State Minister Thoam Mohamed signed on behalf of the ministry, while Deputy General Manager Izawa signed on behalf of the company.
Under the agreement, the works are to be completed within 487 days.
