19 mosques to open across Maldives during Ramadan
The minister said 15 mosques have already been opened, while the remaining mosques are scheduled to open during Ramadan.
A total of 19 mosques will be opened across the Maldives during the month of Ramadan, Minister of Islamic Affairs Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said on Wednesday.
In a statement to the media, the minister said 15 mosques have already been opened, while the remaining mosques are scheduled to open during Ramadan. He said the mosques include both privately built and government-built facilities.
The minister also said that mosques in Malé with a capacity of more than 800 people are now equipped with air-conditioning, including four mosques, according to state media reports. He added that air-conditioning issues at Salman Mosque have been resolved.
According to the minister, Maldivian hafiz will lead Taraweeh prayers at the Islamic Centre and Salman Mosque during Ramadan.
He further said that Ihya Forums will be held in 10 islands in the atolls this year, noting that this is the highest number of such forums conducted in the atolls to date. In addition, 10 teachers were sent on Tuesday to 10 branches of the Quran Centre.
