Council seeks bids to resume buggy services in Vilimalé
A buggy service was previously launched in April 2023, during the tenure of President Mohamed Muizzu as mayor of Malé.
Malé City Council has invited bids to procure buggies for the resumption of buggy services in Vilimalé.
The council plans to introduce electric buggies to restart the service. A buggy service was previously launched in April 2023, during the tenure of President Mohamed Muizzu as mayor of Malé. The service was later discontinued after it was found to be unsustainable.
Under the current plan, the council is seeking to procure four buggies with 11 seats, three buggies with eight seats, and two cargo buggies.
Bids are open to Maldivian companies, partnerships, local investors, and business licence holders. The council said the buggies must be of the LVTONG brand and display the Malé City Council logo. Suppliers are also required to provide spare parts for a minimum period of one year.
Bid information will be provided at 10:30 am on the 26th of this month at Malé City Hall. Completed bids must be submitted by 11:00 am on the 5th of next month.
Public transport services in Vilimalé are currently provided by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The service was launched during the period when the current mayor, Adam Azim, served as managing director of MTCC.
