Drugs worth MVR 72 million seized in 6 weeks, ministry says
According to the minister, reducing the supply of illegal drugs remains a priority for the government.

Drugs with an estimated value of MVR 72.2 million were seized during the past one and a half months, the government said on Thursday.
The figures were shared by Home Minister Ali Ihusan during a press conference at the President's Office.

Ihusan provided details of seizures made during operations conducted by the Maldives Customs Service and the Maldives Police Service.
He said that over the past six weeks authorities seized 83,450 grams of drugs during operations carried out across the Maldives.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of MVR 72.2 million.
Ihusan said the seizures were the result of border control measures carried out by customs and anti-drug operations conducted by police in different parts of the country.
He added that operations aimed at controlling drug trafficking and distribution will continue.
