Annual fee for land vehicles and sea vessels will have to be paid to the council where the vehicle or vessel is registered from next year, finance ministry announced Monday.
The annual fee for vehicles and vessels is part of revenue sources to be accepted by the councils under Section 75 of the Decentralisation Act. MIRA has decided to stop accepting the fee from the agency.
Informing that it has decided to stop accepting annual fees for vehicles, the finance ministry in a notification said:

From January 1, the annual fee for vehicles and vessels will be accepted by councils through a system of the transport ministry
MIRA currently accepts online payments for annual fees. However, none of the agencies have revealed the changes in the fee payment arrangements and other details once the responsibility is handed over to the councils.
