President Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday announced that the handover of land plots from Giravaru Falhu under the ‘Binveriya’ scheme will begin in June.

In a post on X, the President provided an update on the progress of the reclamation project and shared an image of the site.

He said reclamation work is ongoing and is expected to be completed next month.

The project, which resumed in late January after a pause, involves the reclamation of 169 hectares of land. Prior to the suspension, 56 hectares had been completed.

The government said work was initially carried out using one dredger, with a second dredger deployed in February to increase progress.

Following the completion of surveys, the handover of plots will begin in June.

The government has also revised the land use plan for Giravaru Falhu. A new draw has been conducted to allocate plots.

According to the revised plan, the total number of plots has been set at 4,072. The previous plan had a shortfall of 610 plots.

The distribution of plots is as follows:

  • 2,603 plots of 1,250 square feet

  • 1,214 plots of 1,650 square feet

  • 254 plots of 2,050 square feet

  • 1 plot of 2,450 square feet

The land allocation is part of the Binveriya scheme introduced by the previous administration.
