Land reclamation for the development of an airport in Milandhoo has been completed, according to an announcement by Mohamed Muizzu.

The project was awarded to Maldives Airports Company Limited on 15 October. The President confirmed the completion of the reclamation phase in a post on X on Tuesday.

According to the statement, reclamation work began on 3 April and was completed on Monday, taking 31 days.

A total of 21 hectares of land has been reclaimed for the project. In addition, 4.9 hectares of land in Milandhoo were cleared to facilitate construction.

During an earlier visit to Shaviyani Atoll, the President inaugurated physical works for airport projects in Bileiyfahi and Komandoo.

The atoll currently has an operational airport in Funadhoo. With the ongoing projects, the number of airports in the atoll is expected to increase.
