5 crew members found unconscious on vessel in Malé

The individuals include four expatriates and one Maldivian national. All are male.

Five crew members were found unconscious on Saturday aboard a vessel docked at Malé North Harbour, according to the Maldives Police Service.

Police said they received a report at around 6:35am regarding individuals in critical condition and losing consciousness on a boat at the harbour.

The individuals include four expatriates and one Maldivian national. All are male. Police confirmed that they have been taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The individuals are crew members of a vessel identified as ‘DMMA Express 5’, which operates to northern atolls.

Police stated that the case is under investigation.
