The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) secured the majority of seats in Fuvahmulah City in Saturday’s Local Council Elections, according to provisional results.

The People’s National Congress (PNC) did not win seats on the city council in this election.

In the mayoral race, incumbent Mayor Ismail Rafeeq of the MDP retained his position.

For the city council, the MDP secured seven seats. In the Dhadimagu constituency, an independent candidate won the seat against the PNC candidate.

In the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) election, the MDP won seven of the nine seats. The PNC secured one seat, while an independent candidate won the remaining seat.

The results also indicate that the PNC did not secure outcomes in the referendum held alongside the council and WDC elections.

The results remain provisional pending completion of the count.
