Applications deadline extended for national service programme

The programme will be conducted at the MNDF Composite Training Centre in Lhaviyani Atoll Maafilaafushi over a period of three months.

The Ministry of Defence has extended the deadline for applications for the third round of the Maldives National Service programme until 2 pm Tuesday.

The application period was due to close Sunday. The Ministry stated that applicants may now submit forms either by email to [email protected] or in person at the Ministry’s reception.

The programme will be conducted at the MNDF Composite Training Centre in Lhaviyani Atoll Maafilaafushi over a period of three months.

Eligibility is open to individuals aged between 16 and 28. Applicants under the age of 18 are required to submit consent from a legal guardian.

The second batch of the programme is scheduled to continue until the end of this month. The third batch is set to commence next month.

A total of 344 participants completed the first round of the programme. Of these, 66 are currently engaged in vocational training.

The Maldives National Service was introduced under the administration of President Mohamed Muizzu. The programme aims to develop participation in national service, promote values, and equip participants with skills.

Objectives of the programme include fostering a sense of national responsibility, encouraging commitment to service during emergencies, and supporting cooperation among participants.

Participants who complete the training will receive a certificate, along with Certificate Level 3 in Civil Education and Leadership, Community Volunteer Firefighting, and Basic First Aid. A certificate for completion of the education training programme will also be awarded.
