The National Integrity Commission (NIC) has amended its internal regulations, removing the provision for financial compensation for unused annual leave upon a member’s resignation or termination.

Under the previous regulations, members were entitled to a payment for unused annual leave based on their daily salary and applicable allowances. The amendment, published on Tuesday, repeals the clause that provided for this payment.

The revised regulations also introduce a provision granting each member 30 days of sick leave per year.

Changes were also made to provisions governing administrative functions. The earlier regulation stated that administrative affairs were to be managed by the Secretary-General under the guidance of the Commission’s President or a designated member.

The amended regulation states that these responsibilities may also be carried out by an individual assigned to perform the duties of the Secretary-General, under the guidance of the President or the member responsible for operations.

The NIC is an independent statutory body mandated to investigate unlawful acts by law enforcement agencies and their employees. It has the authority to initiate legal proceedings. The commission consists of five members appointed for a term of five years.
