White alert issued as rain affects Maldives
The Met Office stated that the current rainfall pattern is expected to continue until Friday. After that, rainfall may occur at intervals.
The National Meteorological Department (MET) has issued a white alert for rain across the Maldives.
The rainfall follows a period of high temperatures over the past two months.
The Met Office stated that as of 1 p.m., thundershowers are expected from atoll regions to the northern region. A white alert has been issued for these areas. The highest rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in Malé Atoll.
According to the department, rainfall has been reported in parts of the northern and central regions. Winds in the central and southern regions, as well as in the southwest, west and northwest, are expected to range between five and 15 mph. Sea conditions are expected to remain moderate.
