Boat capsizes in Alihuras channel
A police speedboat was sent to the area to rescue the eight people onboard the vessel named Recardo.

A cargo vessel travelling from capital Male to Mahibadhoo in Alif Dhaal Atoll, capsized and sank in the Alihuras channel on Wednesday.
Police said a police speedboat was sent to the area to rescue the eight people onboard the vessel named Recardo. They were rescued from the boat and taken to ADh. Mahibadhoo at around 8:50 pm.
"Everyone is in good condition," police said.
Police later confirmed that the boat has now sunk completely.
Maldives is experiencing bad weather in all parts of the country during the June-July monsoon rain period. The MET office said the southwestern monsoon disturbance was mostly felt in the central and northern regions. The wind was abnormally strong in the upper north, HDh. atoll on Tuesday evening, the office said.
