Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a case involving alleged blackmail and extortion, as well as suspected drug-related activities.
The arrests were made on Saturday following an investigation into a complaint lodged in December last year. According to police, the case involves the alleged blackmail of a man using claims of possessing nude images, with the suspects reportedly extorting more than MVR 300,000 from him over multiple occasions.
The suspects have been identified as:

Mohamed Fawaz Luthfee, 32, of Liligasdhoshuge, S. Feydhoo

Aminath Fainaz, 33, of MA. Yellowdiamond
Both individuals were remanded in custody for seven days by court order.
Police stated that the suspects are also believed to have been involved in drug trafficking. The investigation has led to the seizure of several items from an apartment linked to the suspects, including SIM cards, mobile phones, a rubber packet containing suspected drugs, and suspected drug paraphernalia.
Additionally, a rubber packet containing suspected drugs was reportedly recovered from the clothing of Aminath Fainaz.
Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
