Police have detained a group of foreign nationals on allegations of drug possession, consumption and involvement in gambling.

In a statement on Friday, police said the arrests were made during an operation conducted following intelligence received on Thursday regarding unlawful activities.

According to police, the group consists of 38 Bangladeshi men.

Authorities said the individuals have been handed over to Maldives Immigration to begin deportation procedures.
