Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has begun issuing official documentation required for recipients of housing units in Hulhumalé Phase II to register as permanent residents of Malé.
The process applies to tenants of the 4,000 housing units allocated under the government housing scheme. Recipients include individuals who qualified based on having lived in Malé for more than 15 years.
Under the process, tenants living in FDC flats are required to register with the Male' City Council.
The registration process had been delayed while lease agreements between FDC and tenants were being processed.
FDC has now introduced a system to provide the required documentation, enabling the council to proceed with residency registration once tenants submit the official letter issued by the corporation.
In a statement shared on social media on Thursday, FDC said the documents are being issued through its “Fahi Portal”.
According to the corporation, applicants are required to upload the following documents through the portal:
-
an attested copy of a valid national identity card;
-
an attested copy of a birth certificate; and
-
an attested copy of a marriage certificate.
FDC stated that the required letter for residency registration would be issued after verification of the submitted information and supporting documents.
The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development also sent a letter to Malé Mayor Adam Azim on 22 April instructing the council to register eligible tenants as residents of Malé upon authorisation from FDC.
