Fine for putting up banners in Male without council permission
According to the civic body, those who put up advertisements or banners without the council's permission will be charged MVR 1,000 per day.

Male City Council said on Thursday that if banners and advertisements are installed in public places and roads in the city, they will have to seek permission from the city council and if such an object is installed without permission, they will be fined.
As party activities have begun ahead of next year's presidential elections, the council has issued a notification inviting applications for permission to put up posters and banners prepared by the candidates for campaigning in the primaries and elections held by the parties.
The council said in an announcement that those who wish to put up banners and posters in Male are requested to apply to the council for permission. It is prohibited to install such items without permission, the council said in their notification.
