PNC lawyer Shameem appointed Chief Judicial Administrator

Adam Shameem has been appointed as the Chief Judicial Administrator of the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA), filling the judiciary's highest administrative position following a vacancy of approximately four months.
The appointment was confirmed by the DJA on Sunday. Shameem has been appointed for a five-year term.
The position became vacant in April following the resignation of former Chief Judicial Administrator Amjad Musthafa, who now serves as President of the Employment Tribunal.
As Chief Judicial Administrator, Shameem will oversee the administrative affairs of courts across the Maldives through the DJA, the institution responsible for managing the judiciary's administrative functions.
Prior to his appointment, Shameem served as a Senior Under Secretary at the President's Office.
A lawyer with more than 14 years of legal practice, Shameem has previously represented the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) in legal matters. He was also a member of former President Abdulla Yameen's legal defence team.
In addition to his public service roles, Shameem operates a private law firm.
The appointment comes as the judiciary seeks to fill a position that has remained vacant since April, when Musthafa stepped down after serving as Chief Judicial Administrator.
