9-year-old girl injured in Hulhumalé road accident dies
The family of Zeeva Sinan Ahmed, of M. Lemontree, confirmed that she died while receiving treatment on a ventilator at IGMH.

A nine-year-old girl who was injured in a road accident in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Saturday night died on Tuesday while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The family of Zeeva Sinan Ahmed, of M. Lemontree, confirmed that she died while receiving treatment on a ventilator at IGMH.
The accident occurred on Hithigas Magu near Vinares Tower 7.
Police said a motorcycle travelling along Hithigas Magu collided with a person who was near a car parked at the side of the road.
The motorcycle was being driven by an 18-year-old Maldivian woman, with Zeeva travelling as a pillion passenger. Both were thrown from the motorcycle following the collision.
Zeeva sustained head injuries and lost consciousness at the scene. The 18-year-old rider was also injured, but police said her condition was stable.
Zeeva was initially taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment before being transferred to IGMH in Malé. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and placed on a ventilator.
According to eyewitness accounts, a car had stopped at the side of the road with its indicator lights on. Witnesses said the driver had closed the boot and was attempting to enter the vehicle when the motorcycle struck the person.
Witnesses said the motorcycle was travelling at speed when the collision occurred.
Both the rider and Zeeva were thrown from the motorcycle following the impact. Witnesses said Zeeva was then struck by another car travelling behind the motorcycle.
She sustained a head injury, was bleeding and was unconscious following the accident.
Zeeva remained under treatment at IGMH until her death on Tuesday.
