He said that a second-time elected government had reached this point and that MDP having to take to the streets was not what the party members would want.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Sunday that it is easy to stay at home after spending many years in politics, but he decided to run for another term in favour of MDP.
President Solih, who is on a three-day visit to Addu for the MDP presidential primary campaign, arrived in Feydhoo and Maradhoo Feydhoo.
Addressing supporters at Maradhoo Feydhoo MDP office, President Solih said that while staying at home is easy, he is seeking another term to fulfill the promises made by MDP.
"It's easy, I've finished one term and I can be at home, doing nothing. I have been in Parliament for 25 years. The presidential term is over. What else to do?," he said.
"But for the sake of the party, we have to do this to fulfil the promises we made. This can only be done by doing so with the support of a large number of people as mentioned above."
He said that bringing peace and stability to the Maldives has always been a goal of MDP.
We have been working on it and we got the opportunity in 2008, but people will know what happened next," he said.
"I was trying to get some work done. However, suddenly, we saw what happened when we acted without a vision and a plan," he said, referring to the government of former president Mohamed Nasheed, who is contesting against him in the primary.
He said that a second-time elected government had reached this point and that MDP having to take to the streets was not what the party members would want.
"We have another way out. There is a way to come to power. You can see things happening when you come to power. What else should we choose?," he said.
"If someone else gets power, what will happen next is very clear."
After Maradhoo Feydhoo, President Solih will travel to Hulhumeedhoo. These are the last two islands of his Addu campaign tour.
