Hanimaadhoo-Trivandrum flight suspension from March 1
A state-of-the-art new terminal will be built to cater to 1.3 million passengers a year at the Hanimaadhoo Airport.

In view of the mega development project of HDh. Hanimaadhoo International Airport, flag carrier Maldivian has decided to suspend all flights between the airport and Trivandrum from March 1 for an indefinite period.
The national carrier, which operates to Hanimaadhoo, said on Wednesday:

Night flights from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Hanimaadhoo will be suspended from March 1

Fights to Trivandrum will also be suspended from the same day
According to Maldivian:

Passengers who have booked tickets after March 1 will be assisted through the call centre

There is no clarity on when these flights will resume
Hanimadhoo Airport
Work on the project, funded by USD 6 million (MVR 2.1 billion) loan from Exim Bank of India, began in January .
The project has been awarded to JMC Exports, one of India's largest infrastructure company.
The airport is being developed as follows:
