HDC releases final list of qualifying Vinares flat buyers
The next step to purchase the apartment from the Vinares project is to verify the financial capabilities of applicants.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Thursday released the final list of winning applicants for the Vinares flats in Hulhumale Phase II.
On 20 June 2018, the flats were completed by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) in Hulhumale Phase II, commissioned during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration. On 18 July, HDC opened applications for purchase of the flats.
Under the project, 100 housing units have been earmarked for those who have not been registered in Male for more than 15 years and those who have been living in the city for more than 15 years without registration. Here are some of the conditions:
-
Prior to submission of application, the applicant should not have entered into an agreement to purchase a private flat or land measuring more than 600 square feet in the city and/or started paying any dues
-
In case of non-payment of dues under the agreement, the flat allotted by the Vinares project will be withdrawn
-
No 600 square feet or more land acquired for living in Male should have been sold in the last three years
-
Should not have any housing provided by government housing projects in the past
-
Those earning more than MVR 61,000 per month will not be able to participate
-
The main applicant should be a first-time buyer of an apartment in Male (he or she should not own a flat, apartment or more than 600 square feet of land in the city)
HDC had in November released the provisional list of winning applicants for the Vinares flats. According to the list released by HDC in November, most of the applicants who applied for the purchase of Vinares flats did not meet the eligibility criteria.
-
A total of 1,413 applications made
-
Of these, 723 met the criteria
-
Of those who have been living in the city for more than 15 years without registration, only 475 met the criteria
-
Of those who have been registered for 15 years in Male, only 248 met the criteria
The final list released on Thursday shows:
-
1,094 people who have been living in Male for more than 15 years meet the eligibility criteria
-
267 people who have been registered in Male for 15 years meet the criteria
HDC said in a statement that the permanent list was issued after examining the complaints received in the provisional list and revised by the planning ministry. It said that no one from other housing projects like Sealife, Hiyaa and Gulhifalhu category was included in the list.
According to HDC:
-
Those on the list who have been nominated in more than one form or included as a co-applicant in more than one form can proceed with only one form
-
Though couples have applied separately, such people can only buy only one flat, so they will be allowed to resolve the issue
According to HDC, the next step to purchase the apartment from the Vinares project is to verify the financial capabilities of the newly qualified applicants under the general procedure and through a third-party valuator. Once the process is completed, HDC will collect booking fees and choose the apartment, the company said.
Vinares project:

-
A total of 1,344 apartments
-
