Police have released the passports of nine individuals involved in the investigation of irregularities in land allocation under the Binveriya scheme, excluding former Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and his brother, Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed.
The passports of 20 individuals were initially seized on the 20th of this month, along with their electronic equipment. The release of the nine passports was made in consultation with the Prosecutor General’s Office and on the advice of the Prosecutor General.
"Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed are not among those whose travel ban was revoked," stated a message from the police on Monday.
A criminal investigation into the allocation of flats and land in Hulhumale is being conducted by the police and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) under the directives of Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef.
In connection with the case, all board members of the HDC, except the chairman, were suspended but later reinstated. Additionally, the company has reinstated 15 senior employees who were previously laid off, although they remain under suspension.
