Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) on Tuesday lifted the suspension of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) board members who were suspended during the investigation for alleged irregularities in the allocation of land plots in Hulhumale.

The plot was given to the brother of former Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, whose name was not listed under the Binveriya scheme.

On Thursday, the PCB suspended all HDC board members except Chairman Ahmed Nasif, stating the decision was aimed at facilitating full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.

In a letter addressed to Naseef on Tuesday, PCB President Hamdy Ageel announced that the suspension had been lifted. No further details were provided in the letter.

The HDC board, in addition to Nasif and the managing director, includes:

  • Azhar Abdulla Saeed

  • Ibrahim Yoosuf Fulhu

  • Muhammad Visham

  • Ula Mohamed Rasheed

  • Arif Abdul Samad

  • Mohamed Naajil

  • Mohamed Waheed

  • Fatimath Mizna Ali

  • Yoosuf Wahid

The allegations involve the allocation of land to Fazul's brother under the Binveriya scheme, cases of selling land at undervalued prices, and irregularities in awarding flats to winners.

Fazul resigned from his position as Managing Director on Saturday after being suspended. Former construction minister Mohamed Mauroof Jameel has since been appointed to the role.

Police are actively investigating the case, with the passports of 20 individuals, including Fazul, seized as part of the inquiry. Law enforcement on Monday raided Fazul's apartment and confiscated several items relevant to the investigation.

The case continues to draw public and official scrutiny as investigations into the allegations progress.
