Govt rolls out digital driving licence; ends card printing
Ali Solih said that no fine will be imposed from this Sunday for not having plastic cards in hand.

In a bid to improve the quality of service and make it easier to access services, driving licence was digitised and launched Sunday evening.
All licensing services have been temporarily suspended till Saturday to digitise the licence service. With changes in the system, the ministry has introduced the digital license now.
At a press conference held by the transport ministry on Sunday evening; to share the information about the licence with the media, the digital license issued and how to use the Savari Information Management System (SIMS). Thus:

Drivers can check their license through e-faas portal and police portal

Can be seen on the license card page; scanning the QR code with the card will give you all the details of the license

Drivers can also apply for a licence online; the process of getting a licence will be much faster

Even if the card is not on person, the licence displayed on the police portal from Sunday onwards will be accepted
Addressing a press conference, Transport Minister Aishath Nahula said that with the digitisation of licences, the printing of licence cards and handing over of cards have been stopped from today. She, however, pointed out that those who find it difficult to use their phones will have the right to print their licences.
"We will stop printing from now on. However, it will be possible to show the license on the phone. In other cases, it can be used by taking prints on your own," the minister said.
Minister of State at the Ministry Ali Solih said that with the launch of the service, people will get a lot of convenience. He pointed out that from now on, even if the public do not appear before the ministry, they can avail all licence-related services through the portal.
"Even if you are stoped on the road and asked for it by a policeman, if the license is non-expired, it will be accepted through the police app," Solih said.
