President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has nominated Abdulla Saeed, who currently serves as the Managing Director of Maldives State Shipping (MSS), to the post of Managing Director of STO.
Privatisation and Corporatisation (PCB) on Sunday granted a government request to remove Hussain Amr Rashad from his post as the Managing Director of the state's main trading company STO.
Since the MDP's presidential campaign in January, Amr has been openly working with party president Mohamed Nasheed, who has been working against President Solih.
Privatisation and Corporatisation (PCB) had earlier said that it has received nominations for the post after Amr's removal and will be appointed after reviewing the names.
Atoll Times understands that only Saeed's name has been forwarded to the PCB.
The PCB declined to comment on the matter on Tuesday. Board President Mohamed Asim said the names sent for appointment as the Managing Director of STO will be reviewed and finalised within this week.
