MDP's Shaz sworn in as Guraidhoo MP
Shaz won the by-election to Guraidhoo constituency held on April 15 by a margin of 120 votes.
Ruling MDP's Ibrahim Shaz, who won the by-election to the K. Guraidhoo parliamentary constituency, has been sworn in as a member of parliament.
Supreme Court Judge Aisha Shujoon administered the oath of office to Shaz in the presence of Speaker Mohamed Nasheed at a ceremony held at the parliament secretariat Monday morning.
After taking oath of office, Shaz attended Monday's parliament session.
Shaz won the by-election to Guraidhoo constituency held on April 15 by a margin of 120 votes.
This is the first time in MDP’s history that the party has won a seat in K. atoll.

As many as 3,423 voters were eligible to exercise their rights in the elections, according to data released by the Election Commission. A total of 2,755 voters or 80.4% of the eligible voters exercised their right.
