A police officer has been hospitalised after a group of people attacked him in Hulhumale, with four persons arrested in connection with the case.
The police told Atoll Times on Sunday evening that the group had beaten the policeman badly. The police did not disclose details of the injuries, but said he is undergoing treatment at Hulhumale Hospital.
It is learnt that the policeman was not in his uniform at the time of the assault.
Police did not say whether the four were arrested from the scene of the violence or later from various locations.
"The matter is being investigated by the police," a senior police officer said.
