Maafannu Central MP Ibrahim Rasheed on Wednesday asked the parliament to request a police investigation into former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s remarks against him while testifying in the Criminal Court in connection with the R. Fuggiri lease.
The Criminal Court on Monday began hearing witness testimony in the charges against former President Abdulla Yameen in connection with the MMPRC scandal.
During the hearing, Adeeb said Rasheed participated in the negotiations to lease Fuggiri to Classic City Island Holdings Limited as the company's representative.
Atoll Times has received a copy of a letter sent by Rasheed to the speaker on Wednesday.
In the letter, Rasheed said:
-
Adeeb gave "false testimony"
-
It was defamation
“At this time, the work of the parliamentary committees is also suspended, so please refer the matter to the police for investigation,” the letter said.
Speaking to Atoll Times on Tuesday on the issue, Rasheed also denied the allegations made by Adeeb. He said he had never dealt with Adeeb and would bring the case to the attention of the courts.
