
MRM's Zabeeh sacked from deputy minister's post
The MRM has not yet responded to a letter sent by President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih asking the party to back him a second time.

Ismail Zabeeh, who has been serving as a deputy minister at the higher education ministry, was sacked on Thursday.
Zabeeh’s sacking was confirmed by the President’s Office on Friday. However, when asked about the reason for the dismissal, President's Office spokesperson Miuvan Mohammed said the office did not want to comment on the matter.
Zabeeh also did not comment on his dismissal.
The MRM has not yet responded to a letter sent by President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih asking the party to back him a second time in the upcoming presidential election.
MRM has been critical of some government policies. The party is also running informal campaigns on social media to contest the election.
The ruling coalition’s Jumhooree Party (JP) has already fielded its leader Gasim Ibrahim for the presidential election, but no action has been taken against JP members in the government.
