Democrats, PPM launch anti-govt activities

Main opposition PPM/PNC coalition and The Democrats, a breakaway party being formed by former MDP president Mohamed Nasheed, announced on Monday their decision to hold joint activities against the government.
The Democrats had previously announced that they would join the opposition, PPM, for street protests.
Formal talks on working together between the two parties have been ongoing since Sunday.
After Sunday's meeting, the two parties said they came out together to see what needs to be done to end the government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
The opposition PPM-PNC coalition and The Democrats held a second meeting on Monday. After the meeting, they met with reporters.
Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim said the three parties will hold a joint rally on July 3.
PPM Vice President and Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam said their decision to work together has given great hope to their supporters.
“The assurance we want to give is that hopefully on September 9, there will be a government in this country that the people want,” he said.
