The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has postponed its 'Run Red' event, initially planned to commemorate its 20th anniversary, to the 1st of next month.
The MDP, which marked its 20th anniversary last month, had announced plans to organise a series of activities throughout the year. As part of these celebrations, the party had scheduled a nationwide run titled 'Ran Reendhoo' for the 18th of this month.
However, the party stated that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) had not granted permission to hold the run in Hulhumale. Following this, the MDP considered rescheduling the run to coincide with Independence Day on 26 July.
In a statement on social media on Thursday, the MDP announced that permission has now been received to hold the event in Hulhumale. The run will now take place on the 1st of next month, with the support of the Maldives Police Service. The route will be centred on the road surrounding Central Park in Hulhumale.
Further details regarding the event are expected to be released in the coming days.
The 'Run Red' event will feature the MDP’s anniversary flag and will be held in the Malé area as part of the party's ongoing anniversary activities.
