A man was hit by a speeding motorcycle while walking after dawn prayers in Male Wednesday morning, with his condition now serious.
The accident happened, near the Sultan Adil Mosque, at 5:01 am.
A police spokesman told Atoll Times that the 50-year-old man is being treated at the ADK hospital.
"The 22-year-old man who rode the motorcycle in the accident did not have a driving licence," the spokesman said.
An eyewitness who tweeted with a video of the injured man said that he had exited the mosque after the morning prayer when he was hit by a speeding GN motorcycle.
"He was a very good and pious man who is seen every night at the dawn prayer. I can still see how he fell and how blood bubbled out of his mouth," an eye witness wrote on Twitter.
