President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Thursday that the people of Addu are at the forefront of MDP's victory in the presidential election in a single round.

Speaking at the MDP rally held at the City Bazaar area of Hithadu on Thursday evening, President Solih said the welcome he received from the people when he arrived in the province on Wednesday showed their support for him.

The president said that from the northernmost part of the country, H.A. Thuraakunu to Addu, he saw the extent of support for himself.

"In fact, this will be over in one round. You are in the boat of victory in one round. There is no doubt about it," he said.

"When I arrived in this island on Wednesday afternoon, almost all the people of Addu gathered in Gan. I was convinced by the warm welcome and enthusiasm expressed by Addu. I spent three or four hours there and took my time."

The president said that the people of Addu are at the forefront of the results of the elections.

"Earlier, even before, when it was done in several rounds, you were at the forefront. The people of Addu will be at the forefront of deciding this in one round day after tomorrow," he said.

The president said, noting as a very special thing in the democratic life of Addu, how it is a place where very hardworking people live. One example of this, the president said, is the sacrifice made by Addu when the MDP was formed.

"There are people here who secretly changed their voices and spoke to us. There are many people who left by boat and crossed the seas to Male. There are many people who felt pepper spray, tear gas and experienced prison cells," he said.

"Today we see the good results of the work done that day. The fruit of the tree planted that day is blooming and ripening”.
