The strategy of the MDP presidential candidate, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to win the second round of the presidential election is to spread lies about him, the PPM-PNC presidential candidate Dr Mohamed Muizz said on Thursday.

Muizz began his second round campaigning on Thursday in the Alif Alif province where the MDP won a majority in the first round. At a rally held in Feridhoo on Thursday, Muizz said the government was making untrue statements to the extreme.

Muizz said his rivals are spreading untrue stories about him every day. If anyone hears such stories, and if they have doubts, they should ask the party to clarify the truth. He assured that he would answer all questions.

"Now I am noticing that the government’s strategy for the second round is a strategy of lying. The people are more aware than that, so I am not worried about it," Muizz said.

Referring to the huge difference in the first round, Muizz said the people were determined to change the government and what they should do on the 30th of this month is to 'finalize' that decision by voting.

Urging the people to leave all fears together while taking the decision on the voting day, Muizz reiterated that based on the way a person votes, there will be nothing to fear for anyone. Muizz said government employees were also threatened with job loss to stifle their support for him.

Official results of Saturday's presidential election show main opposition PPM-PNC's Dr Mohamed Muizz leading the polls with 46%, while President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih secured 39%.
