The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating 32 cases related to the presidential election.
The ACC is in a deep sleep, the opposition PNC Vice-President and Maavah MP Mohamed Saeed said on Sunday criticising the ACC. He said the ACC would not dare to investigate election-related cases.
Following the criticism, journalists have asked the ACC to provide details of the cases being investigated in connection with the presidential election.
A total of 32 cases have been filed in connection with the election, the ACC said in a message to media on Monday:
-
Political parties filed three cases
-
The Elections Commission referred four cases that do no fall within the electoral body's jurisdiction
“Other than that, no cases or complaints, whether pertaining to electoral bribery and misuse of state resources in connection with the elections or in respect of any motion filed with the EC by any other party, have been referred to this commission by the Elections Commission,” the ACC said in its message.
