Educational institutions should evolve with global shifts, pres says

The president acknowledged the pivotal role of teachers in shaping responsible generations that uphold the nation's duties.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih underscored the urgency for educational institutions to evolve with global economic and social transformations, emphasising that the trajectory of international development is now irrevocably geared towards modern technology and innovative productivity.

This statement was articulated in a written address to the nation, delivered on World Teachers' Day, annually commemorated on October 5.

The president acknowledged the pivotal role of teachers in shaping responsible generations that uphold the nation's duties. He emphasised the importance of recognising teachers' invaluable contributions to society, asserting that they are instrumental in human resource development.

President Solih also stressed teachers' need to acquaint themselves with new technologies and modern teaching methodologies, citing these as crucial elements for national development. He further emphasised the need to fortify the Maldivian social fabric, advocating for teachers to exemplify Islamic values.

Moreover, he underscored the importance of providing children with a robust upbringing, which includes educating them on Islamic creed, theology, and values while promoting our cultural literary legacy. On World Teachers' Day, President Solih extended his best wishes and heartfelt gratitude to all educators in the Maldives for their invaluable service to the nation.

World Teachers' Day 2023 is observed under the theme "The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage." This day is a tribute to teachers worldwide, acknowledging their transformative and enduring impact on others' lives.
