PNC appoints Fazul as parliamentary group's first deputy leader
When president-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu is sworn in on November 17, the PNC will become the main ruling party.

The People's National Congress (PNC) has elected Felidhoo MP Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed as the deputy leader of its Parliamentary Group (PG), making him the first member to hold the post in the incoming ruling party.
The PNC, which has not appointed a deputy PG leader before, announced the decision on Wednesday.
Announcing it in a post on X, the party's PG leader Adam Shareef congratulated Fazul and wished him success.
Fazul, who was the Managing Director of MWSC in the PPM government, also contested the 2019 parliamentary election on the PNC ticket.
When president-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu is sworn in on November 17, the PNC will become the main ruling party. Muizzu won the presidential election in September on the PNC ticket.
There are currently four PNC members in parliament, including Vice-President-elect Hussain Mohamed Lateef, who switched from PPM to PNC to contest the presidential election.
After the victory in the presidential election, the party's senate elected Muizzu as the party's president. The former president of the PNC, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has been appointed as the PNC chairperson.
