Muizzu to expand Aasandha for IVF in first 100 days

The plan also includes many measures to improve the quality of health services provided to the people.

During the first 100 days of President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu's administration, Aasandha national health insurance scheme will cover its services to include IVF.

The announcement was made at the launch of the 'Week 14' policy of the Muizzu government, which will take over on Friday.

Muizzu has included many things to do in the field of health and social services. Among them, many diseases that were not previously treated through Aasandha will be treated through the scheme. They include:

  • During the first nine weeks of the government, special treatment for health problems such as endometriosis and PCOS will be provided through Aasandha

  • During the first four weeks of the government, a special policy will be formulated and implemented to facilitate medical check-ups twice a year for everyone under Aasandha

  • During the first four weeks of the administration, fertility treatment services, including IVF treatment, will be made available through Aasandha

In addition, the plan also includes many measures to improve the quality of health services provided to the people. The first 100 days’ plans include:

  • Introduction of air ambulance

  • Schedule and start implementation of a laboratory service expansion project in each island

  • Budget for strengthening the preventive health care system

  • Start expanding access to special health care for senior citizens

  • Formulate policy to ensure quality medicines available in Maldives

  • Strengthen services for thalassemia patients and facilitate free bone marrow transplantation

  • Establish a 24-hour national helpline to help people dealing with mental illness.
