President pledges transparency; says RTI requests not needed

President Mohamed Muizzu has said that nobody will have to file the Right to Information (RTI) application under the RTI Act in order to attain information in his government.
The President said this while addressing a press conference at the President’s Office on Tuesday.
"We will try to be transparent. There will be nothing hidden or unaccountable. We will share information. If something like that happens, just let me know. I am sure it will not happen...you will not have to file an RTI. I dont think that will be required at all,” the President said at the press conference held to announce some major decisions of the Cabinet on Tuesday.
"All information will be available. Nothing will be withheld”.
At that point, the President added that he had a "very active team" in his cabinet and they would work day and night for the people.
"We want to continue to decide everything that benefits the people. We want to continue to engage and consult with the people as much as possible," he said after announcing the 10 decisions taken by the Cabinet on Tuesday.
"Therefore, my team, cabinet and MDs of companies [and] all other leaders will work for the people. They will not work otherwise. And they will work in a two-sided manner," he told reporters is the source.

The President said he would soon visit various places in the city and islands to meet the people. The President repeatedly said that he wanted to work closely with the people.
While this President said that RTI is not required to get information from his government, previous governments have withheld some information even after people filed RTIs.
